About
Who makes Golden Age of Hollywood, and how its articles are researched, sourced and fact-checked.
Golden Age of Hollywood is made by Age of Vintage, the team behind the Age of Vintage YouTube channel. It is a catalog of the films, books and stars of 1930s to 1960s Hollywood, and a home for longer articles about them.
Editorial standards
How articles are researched. Every article starts from the record: biographies and memoirs, studio correspondence where it survives, period magazines and newspapers, archives, and interviews. We prefer sources close to the people involved over later retellings, and we say when accounts disagree.
How articles are sourced. Every article lists its sources at the end. When a source is a book in our catalog, the article links to it. Quotations are attributed to where we found them.
How articles are fact-checked. Before an article is published, a separate reviewer checks its names, dates and claims against the listed sources. A claim that cannot be verified is cut or marked as disputed, and an article that does not pass is not published. Catalog pages carry database facts plus our own text; a page that has no original text of ours yet is kept out of search engines until it does.
Corrections. If you find an error, tell us through the channel. Corrections are made in the text, and the page’s updated date changes.
